About the 2019 Symposium
The 2019 Pittsburgh Double Bass Symposium was held on March 16, 2019. Presenters included Max Dimoff, principal bass of the Cleveland Orchestra; Rex Surany, principal bass of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra; Cory Palmer, Carnegie Mellon graduate and principal bass of the Rochester Philharmonic; Jason Heath; Jeff Mangone, principal bass of Pittsburgh Opera Orchestra; Jeffrey Turner and members of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra double bass section, Carnegie Mellon University double bass faculty, Micah Howard and Peter Guild, and other special guests.
The Symposium included master classes, recitals, networking opportunities, and chances to visit with exhibitors, including Shank’s Strings, Guarneri House, Heartland String Bass Shop, Upton Bass, and Sound Spike Endpins.
