Jennifer Gerhard Mangone is Principal Violist of the Pittsburgh Opera Orchestra, Pittsburgh Ballet Orchestra, Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera Orchestra, the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh, Latshaw Pops Orchestra, as well as substitute violist with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

A member of TJL Productions “My Music Orchestra,” Ms. Gerhard can be frequently seen on PBS television shows with a variety of pop artists ranging from Doo Wop to Davey Jones, Engelbert Humperdinck and more.

An active chamber music performer and private teacher, Ms. Gerhard is also violist and music coordinator of the Wheeling Symphony String Quintet, an ensemble that performs educational programs and recitals throughout the region.  

From 1982-87 Jennifer held the position of Principal Violist with the Sacramento Symphony Orchestra. Prior to that, Ms. Gerhard performed with the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra and on Broadway.

Jennifer’s primary viola teachers were Paul Doktor, Heidi Castleman, Leonard Davis, and Sol Greitzer. Originally from Long Island, New York, she received the degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts with Highest Honors from SUNY Purchase Music Conservatory in 1981.

She performs on a viola made in 1977 by James Radford Coggin.

Jennifer is married to Jeff Mangone, Principal Bassist of the Pittsburgh Opera, Pittsburgh Ballet, Civic Light Opera, and Wheeling Symphony Orchestras. The couple resides in the North Hills.
